Fine Arts

Art I

This course follows the NC course of study. Topics to be covered include the elements of art, principles of design, art history, critique, and proper use of materials and supplies. Weekly sketchbook assignments and lectures supplement the learning process.

Art II

This course takes the basics learned in art one to the next level. An understanding of the elements of art and principles of design is crucial. All assignments must demonstrate a proper understanding of these concepts. Art history will be present in all assignments. Perspective, proportion and figure drawing will also be covered. Sketchbook assignments and lectures supplement the learning process.

Art III

Art 3 focuses on the development and clarity of creative thinking skills. Students will also begin to more clearly define their own personal ideas and philosophy about art.  Students will be encouraged to create work with more in-depth, independent, and advanced levels of exploration as it relates to processes, techniques, aesthetic issues,  art criticism, and art history.

Chorus

Students in Chorus will enhance their respect for and understanding of music as an art form. They will perform a wide variety of music, improve singing skills, and develop skills in areas such as reading, analyzing, composing and evaluating music.  Students will explore various musical genres.
