Exceptional Children
Program Model:
Queen’s Grant High School offers Exceptional Children’s services based on a partial inclusion model. Students with disabilities are educated with their typically developing peers for at least 80% of the day, allowing them to maximize the benefits of the college preparatory high school curriculum, and the typical high school experience. Specialized services are provided outside of the general education classroom. EC students are offered the Study Skills elective, which provides them the opportunity to leave the general education classroom to attend smaller, more intensive instructional sessions.
Study Skills Course Offered:
Students receiving Exceptional Children services are eligible to take the Study Skills elective. This elective focuses on individualized and small group instruction, and provides students with assistance in homework and study skills, extra help with coursework, and/or remediation of basic skills. Instruction is individualized to each student’s unique needs, and is based on their Individual Education Plan (IEP).
