Please join us in welcoming Dr. Smith to the Queen’s Grant High School family. Dr. Smith comes to Queen’s Grant with nearly 40 years of experience as a teacher, principal and coach at public, private and charter schools and universities. Dr. Smith started his career teaching at Ravenswood High School in West Virginia.
Dr. Smith’s first administrative experience was at Hargrave Military Academy where he served as the Commandant of Cadets. After he earned his educational doctorate, Dr. Smith served for two years as the Academic Dean at Oak Ridge Military Academy. During those two years, he also served as the vice president of the school and for a period of four months served as the interim president.
Dr. Smith entered the world of charter schools in 1999 as the founding principal of Greensboro Charter Academy, a National Heritage Academy. Following three very successful years at Greensboro Academy, he was promoted to the position of Director of School Quality for NHA. During the next four years, Dr. Smith helped open 11 new schools for National Heritage Academy.
We are very excited to start the 2011-2012 school year under Dr. Smith’s leadership.
