Admissions Policy

As of the lottery deadline, 3pm on February 26th, 2010, the number of applicants has not exceeded the school’s capacity for the 2010-2011 school year.  At this time, the school is in an OPEN ENROLLMENT period until the capacity is reached, at which time we will maintain a waiting list for students wishing to enroll.  All students who have already been accepted will receive written notification during the month of March.

Admission to Queen’s Grant is by public lottery. All candidate names are drawn by grade level to fill available positions at the time of the lottery.  Once available positions are filled, the remaining names are drawn and placed on a waiting list in the order in which they were drawn.  When a student submits an application after the lottery, they are either admitted if positions remain open in the requested grade or are added to the waiting list in the order in which the application was received.

Final grade level placement will be determined upon receipt of the student’s records for the current school year.  Students admitted to Queen’s Grant High School, will need to provide documentation that North Carolina graduation requirements have been met according to their current grade level and that they are eligible to be promoted to the next grade level.

Students currently enrolled at Queen’s Grant are assured of positions for the next school year provided they follow the procedures for holding their spaces.

Sibling Preference

Siblings of current Queen’s Grant students are given preference.
Any siblings who apply to the after February 28th will be placed below the other siblings already on the waiting list for their particular grade level.
